Branding

Crafted from a blend of foundational positioning, distinct narrative, unique visual identity and purposeful messaging, your brand is how potential donors, supporters, and even your own stakeholders understand and talk about your organization when you’re not in the room to do it yourself. It’s one of the most powerful forces working in your favor when it’s articulated clearly, and one of the strongest forces working against you when its not. Whether you’re looking to shift the fundamental way you communicate about your organization’s mission, or build on an already strong positioning through compelling messaging and design, we’re here to help.

Discovery: Research, Insights + Strategy

To better understand your current situation, challenges, objectives, and overall mission, we’ll start a research-based Discovery and work from the inside out. We’ll first get up-to-speed on your organizational structure, stakeholders, strategic plans, short and long term goals. Then, we’ll uncover insights about your audiences’ needs, wants, behaviors, habits, perceptions, barriers, and cultural influences, identifying new opportunities along the way. All of our discoveries come together into a thoughtful strategy that informs the future direction of your brand.

Brand positioning +
rebrands

Purpose, values, beliefs, personality, voice, taglines, and personas: they’re the building blocks of your organization’s positioning, and the next step in redefining your brand. With all of the knowledge from our Discovery phase, we’ll work together to develop each of these elements and bring them together into a single, cohesive Brand Pyramid, which not only acts as your “brand on a page” for internal team alignment, but also provides the foundation for more nuanced narratives to come.

Brand messaging + storytelling

Anytime you shift your high-level brand positioning, you also need to shift the functional language you’re using to to articulate your mission on a day-to-day basis. With a solid understanding of your organizations’ various audiences, we’ll map out the different messaging approaches your brand can use to connect with each of them: addressing their needs, giving them reasons to believe, and developing the storylines and content approaches that will resonate with them best

Visual identity development: logos, design systems

Your logo is by no means the full measure of your organization and mission, but it is your first impression. Based on your organization’s positioning, audiences, and goals, we’ll explore the facets of color, type, composition, and design to best communicate your purpose and your mission. Once your new logo and overall visual style are defined, we’ll create or update your Brand Guidelines to ensure consistent usage across all  communications.

Communications collateral + templates

Your organization’s external communications need to be as sharp, and as compelling, as your internal focus. With your brand identity in place, we’ll help prioritize the rollout of your new visual system, and design the collateral and templates to unify your brand presence across all owned platforms. Making sure your brand is consistently represented is especially important before developing and activating any marketing strategies, so that all audiences, across all channels, have a singular understanding of your work and your mission.
