Corporate sponsorships and contests are great ways for nonprofits to participate in online fundraising without asking supporters for money. Nonprofits ask their supporters to take certain actions, and brands make a donation to a good cause – win win!
For the second year in a row, Media Cause partnered with Futures Without Violence to help them raise over $100,000 in the Macy’s Thank-a-Mom challenge.
Using social media and email marketing we put together a campaign to rally supporters of Futures Without Violence to send thank you cards to moms in celebration of Mothers Day. The application itself, hosted on the Macy’s Facebook page, distributed the cards as Facebook posts or emails for free.
Each time a card was sent, Macy’s donated $2 to one of five nonprofits, chosen by senders. With 5 nonprofits competing for $400,000 it became quite a race. We were able to mobilize their online communities quickly. In just 5 days we finished with over 55,000 e-cards sent and $110,000 raised for their mission to protect innocent victims from violence.
